We celebrate the world electric vehicle day
Discover the solutions for electromobility offered by Eurotronix
On September 9, we celebrate World Electric Car Day, which highlights the importance of sustainable mobility and raises awareness for cleaner and greener transportation options.
Electric cars were born more than 200 years ago, but suffered a major decline after World War II due to the leadership of gasoline-powered cars. Today they are making a comeback, with an increasing presence on our streets.
We take this day to show Eurotronix solutions for the electromobility sector: not only for cars, but also for bicycles, scooters or electric motorcycles.
EUROTRONIX SOLUTIONS FOR ELECTROMOBILITY
In Eurotronix we have a great variety of solutions for EV: batteries, connectivity systems, display screens, microcontrollers, LEDs, relays, connectors or terminals, all of them certified and following standards such as ISO 16750, IEC 60664-1, ISO 6469-3 or IATF 16949:2016, among others.
Batteries
One of the main limitations of electric vehicles, especially cars, has been their limited range. However, advances in technology are overcoming this obstacle. Larger capacity lithium-ion batteries are enabling electric vehicles to reach longer distances on a single charge.
Thanks to supplier EVE, lithium-ion secondary batteries (LiFePo or NMC) are available with high energy density and high performance. They charge super-fast, have a long service life and are very safe and stable.
Digital integration and communication
Connectivity is a fundamental aspect of modern electric vehicles. Advanced user interfaces and touch screens provide access to vehicle status information. In addition, connectivity allows users to control certain functions of their vehicles through mobile applications, such as checking the state of charge.
- MCU: They can be widely used in BMU, T-box, BCM, OBC, electric vehicle charging stations, LED headlights, intelligent cockpits, instrumentation control, seat controllers and climate control systems.
Geehy's microcontrollers offer high computational speed, large storage capacity, are Autosar 4.3.0 MCAL compliant and ISO 26262 ASIL-B compliant.
- Antennas: Allow the simultaneous connection of signals from different technologies (LTE, GNSS, radie, etc) on a single antenna. The type of signal as well as the connectors can be customized. They have a compact design and their installation ensures an IP67 degree of protection.
The Shark Fin from 2J Antennas is a 2-in-1 cellular/LTE and GNSS antenna. It features great short and long range cellular data throughput and has access to multiple satellites allowing uninterrupted availability, making it ideal for navigation or global geolocation.
- Cellular modules: LTE-CAT4. Intelligent TCU + Cavli Wireless GNSS. This module features multi-constellation GNSS with Qualcomm IZat location technology for accurate and reliable positioning. In addition, it includes an integrated eSIM option powered by Cavli's Hubble platform that provides global connectivity and supports 3GPP Rel-10 standard with 2G fallback.
- Secure and flexible RFID authentication for both public pay-as-you-go charging stations and privately managed charging infrastructures.
They prevent fraudulent use of the charging infrastructure and protect user data. Available in finished or PCB-integrated format.
- Touch screens: We have LCD-TFT displays from Raystar, which have a wide viewing angle, very low reaction time when touching them and great capacity to customize the environment.
LEDs
LEDs are widely used in electric vehicles: to signal the vehicle's status, to illuminate it internally, they are also used in headlights and other signal lights. In addition, in charging stations they indicate the charging status of the vehicle and provide a clear visual interface for users.
Various types of LEDs are available from suppliers such as Brightek, Harvatek, Refond or Honglitronic:
- RGB+IC LEDs: for ambient lighting of the vehicle interior and in charging stations to decorate and customize. They are super-small in size and feature a full color range as well as high color uniformity.
- LEDs for both exterior and interior vehicle lighting: headlights, freo or indicator lights. They have high efficiency and power density.
- IR LEDs: used in driver and occupant surveillance and monitoring systems, such as drowsiness detection, eye tracking, distraction warnings or child presence detection, among others.
They are very small in size and are highly efficient, with a wide range of vision and high precision.
Other elements
- AC-DC chargers and other connectors: Degson has different types of power connectors, for load input or for signal transmission between the electronics and the e-controller, among others.
In addition, they offer chargers and sockets for three-phase and single-phase AC charging complying with IATF 16949:2016. - Viking or Kampcap supercapacitors, which are extremely safe and stable, allow a much faster partial charge of the electric motor and are charged with regenerative energy during braking, among other functions.
- HVDC relays: Hongfa has HVDC relays, one of the key components in the construction of an alternative energy vehicle, which are not only electric, but also HEVs, PHEV/PEVs and fuel cell vehicles. They can be used:
- Main relays (electrical protection / safety control), mainly used to disconnect the battery.
- Fast charge relays: to control the fast charge process.
- Relays for auxiliary applications: for air conditioning, heating or DC/AC converters among others.
- High voltage precharge relays: Used in precharge circuits.
- The function of HVDC relays within load devices is to switch DC current.
We also have all kinds of terminals, power resistors and other elements that make Eurotronix offer a complete solution for electric vehicles.
CONCLUSIONS
Although the electric vehicle has a greater impact when manufactured than fuel vehicles, the almost zero emission of pollutants during the entire useful life of the vehicle more than offsets the initial investment in pollution, since the 100% electric vehicle emits 0 CO2eq.
The World Electric Car Day is nothing more than a celebration to raise awareness of the need to adopt cleaner and greener alternatives for personal transport.
From Eurotronix we join the celebration, and we offer our Product Managers and FAEs to advise and support in any of the projects in the field of electromobility of our customers.
